HikingShare This Experience With a Friend

Hiking the Appalachian Trail is on the ‘to do’ list of many. Some try to hike it in one trip while others take it in small chunks. The southern terminus of this 2176-mile footpath is in Georgia at Springer Mountain. The 76 mile Georgia section of the trail may be the most rugged and difficult and yet is as beautiful as any section along the trail. On your trek, stop at Mountain Crossings at Neel’s Gap and visit the Boot Museum, maybe leaving yours behind as a reminder of your journey!

Tubing Paddling And RaftingShare This Experience With a Friend

Georgia is a water wonderland with a vast system of rivers, lakes, coast and even a swamp, offering many opportunities for you to raft, paddle, and tube in Georgia. In north Georgia, the Chattooga River, Georgia’s only nationally designated "Wild & Scenic" river offers class III to class V whitewater rafting thrills for kids of all ages. In south Georgia, the Altamaha River Trail, just over 100 miles long is formed by the confluence of the Ocmulgee and Oconee Rivers. Paddlers are treated to bald eagles, swallow-tailed kites and red-cockaded woodpeckers.

Fishing And HuntingShare This Experience With a Friend

Georgia offers some of the most diverse, fishing opportunities in the Southeast. Whether it’s fly fishing, deep sea fishing or the unending quest for the next world record bass, Georgia’s 500,000 acres of reservoirs and over 12,000 miles of warm water streams give all the opportunity to GO FISH. Hunting also abounds in an extensive network of Wildlife Management areas. The heritage of the hunt is at it’s finest when Belle Meade holds it ‘Opening Meet’ the 1st Saturday in November. You can follow the fox hunt in the tally-ho wagons for this ‘Annual Blessing of the Hounds’.

RacingShare This Experience With a Friend

Auto racing is in our blood. If it’s in your blood, plan on visiting Road Atlanta, a multi-purpose motor sports facility and premiere road course. It’s situated on 750 park-like acres in Braselton and offers a wide variety of sports car and motorcycle races, racing and driving schools, and corporate programs. And then there’s Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, with a 1.54-mile quad-oval track and seating for over 125,000. Although NASCAR events are the most popular, there are a number of other events for fans of all ages.
