McCaysville

Two rivers, two bridges, two towns and two states – the Copper Basin is "Too great for one state." As the destination for both the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway and the Tennessee Valley Railroad, the twin towns of McCaysville, Georgia, and Copperhill, Tennessee, are experiencing a revival -- with new shops, restaurants, parks and streetscapes. The Riverwalk Shops and new Chamber Visitor Center on the Toccoa River in McCaysville are two new "must do's" during your visit to the Basin. The Riverwalk has three restaurants on the river and 11 shops in a revitalized complex of buildings "Ponce Market" style.

McCaysville is home to Rolling Thunder River Company, which offers whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River – a short 10-minute bus ride away. Rolling Thunder and Toccoa River Tubing Company offer tubing and kayaking on the Toccoa River. Horseshoe Bend Park is also located in McCaysville and is well known for it's Pickin' in the Park on Thursday evenings, May through September.
