The Union County Saddle Club was organized in 1986 in Blairsville, Georgia, by a group of interested people under encouragement of the Blairsville Kiwanis Club. The purpose of the Saddle Club is to promote the equine industry and recreation.
Top priority is to benefit the health, safety, and welfare of the horse and rider of all skill levels. The Union County Saddle Club is dedicated to adding value to our fellow horsemen and to our local community as well. It is a non-profit [Section 501(c)3] community based, family oriented organization comprised of all volunteer members who are dedicated to the education and skill development in all disciplines pertaining to equine activities. Our club operates in Northeast Georgia and falls under the Union County Recreation Department. Meetings are held at the clubhouse on the third Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m.
From April through October, the Saddle Club hosts open horse shows, barrel racing events, team roping, ranch sorting, special invitational shows for the handicapped, rodeos, trail rides, clinics and exhibitions. Recognizing its important role in the equine community, the Club has always been a strong supporter of the local 4-H Club. Members also participate in community parades just for fun.
The Arena facilities are available to other clubs, groups and organizations that provide valuable and vital programs for those in Union County.
