2. There’s More Adventure Than Meets the Eye

Great Wolf Lodge’s indoor water park is no secret. This wet and wild isle of smiles boasts every feature you can imagine, from wave pools and lazy rivers to thrilling slides, water playgrounds and adults-only hot tubs. Of course, the main attraction is the 93,000-square-foot water park where the water is always a pleasant 84 degrees. On the day you check-in, you can use the water park starting at 1 p.m. And here’s a tip: On the day you check out, you can stay and play all day. There are four-story tube rides and a water-jet-fueled vortex for thrill-seeking teens and tame slides for the littles, in addition to splash pads, a lazy river and a fun wave pool. Water jackets are included so that’s one less thing to pack. If you want a special retreat, check out the cabana rentals, which are stocked with plenty of refreshing beverages, towels, a sofa, fridge, fan, TV and other smart amenities.

There’s more to explore once you’ve toweled off. Search for gemstones, scale a rock-climbing wall, tackle a ropes course or defeat a goblin king on a MagiQuest. At the family-gaming den—The Yards by Topgolf Swing Suite—play soccer, zombie dodgeball or classic Topgolf games, including virtual golfing at 84-plus courses. You and your minis can putt away on a mini-golf course or hit the arcades to earn the top score.

3. Dining Packages Save You Dough

With 10 places to dine, you’ll have no shortage of options, whether you’re after fried-chicken sandwiches and hot dogs, Bavarian pretzels with beer cheese, pizza, salads or Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. In addition to all the family-friendly foodie delights, you’ll also find plenty of grown-up drinks, like craft beer, wine and cocktails.

And the cherry on the sundae (or Manhattan) is the fact that you can save money when you add on dining packages before your stay. (You know you’re gonna eat, so this is an easy call!)

4. There are Even More Things to Do in LaGrange

We don’t know why you’d want to leave the lodge, but if you do, you’ll find ample ways to keep the family fun going. Head to Wild Animal Safari, where you can meet zebras, giraffes, ostrich, watusi (cattle with crazy long horns) and more. You can even book an encounter with a sloth or reptiles.

At the Biblical History Center’s Kid’s Dig, your littles can reconstruct history by digging for actual artifacts and replicas while they get down and dirty with archaeological fun. Other activities at the center include baking bread like ancient nomadic peoples and exploring a reproduction of a 2,000-year-old city.

BYOB (bring your own board): Southbend Park is a paradise for local skaters and BMXers. Work on ollies, kick flips and wheelies on terrain that includes street and transition style, swerve and dip in the open bowl feature, and then walk downtown for shopping, dining and—for the big folks—craft-brew sipping.
