Signature Squares of Brunswick, a non-profit preservation organization, was founded in 2005 to reclaim and beautify the original colonial parks and squares in the Old Town district of the city. Each of Brunswick’s 14 original squares in the Old Town Historic District has a unique story to tell.

With the Oglethorpe Plan in mind, the Council of the Royal Colony of Georgia planned out the city of Brunswick in a grid-like system with commercial space next to spaces of green. These spaces of green were reserved for the common good and enjoyment of the community.

Today, these green spaces serve the same purpose. A gathering place where local events take place and community members gather.
