BEE-come a citizen scientist! Join us Fri., Aug. 21, 9–11 AM for the Pollinator Census. Free seeds, bug bags & family fun!

Become a citizen scientist and help protect Georgia's pollinators! Join us for the Great Southeast Pollinator Census at the beautiful Pollinator Education Garden at Big Haynes Creek Nature Center.

Led by UGA Extension Rockdale County Agriculture Agent, Philip Hensley, participants will learn how to identify bees, butterflies and other important pollinators before conducting a simple 15-minute pollinator count. Your observations will contribute to the University of Georgia's statewide citizen science project, helping researchers better understand pollinator populations and support conservation efforts across the Southeast.

No experience is necessary! This FREE family-friendly event is designed for all ages, and volunteers will be available to guide you every step of the way.

What to Expect
  • Learn to identify common pollinators with Agriculture Agent Philip Hensley
  • Participate in a 15-minute official pollinator count

  • Receive a free pollinator seed packet (while supplies last)
  • Kids receive bug-themed goody bags (while supplies last)
  • Toddler Reading Circle featuring excerpts from The Great Pollinator Count by Susan Edwards Richmond
  • Explore the Pollinator Education Garden and discover ways to support pollinators at home

Whether you're an experienced gardener, nature enthusiast, educator or simply looking for a fun family activity, you'll play an important role in pollinator conservation while enjoying a beautiful morning outdoors.

Registration is free but encouraged to help us prepare materials and giveaways. We look forward to seeing you in the garden! ???This is a FREE event. All ages welcome.
