Music and nature intertwine in perfect harmony as the SouthEastern Young Artists present an intimate performance of concert selections including Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915, a work of voice and orchestra featuring American Soprano Nicole Heinen. Purchase beer and wine, tour the blooming Garden, then join us in the Event Room for this exclusive performance. Doors open at 6 p.m.
As part of SEYA’s summer concert series, themed “In the Wake of Dreams,” this performance explores the tender space between nostalgia and awakening. Barber’s
setting of James Agee’s prose captures a child’s dreamy recollection of a Southern summer night—its quiet rituals, blurred boundaries between waking and sleep, and the sense that something profound is just out of reach. It is music that floats, lingers, and gently stirs the soul.
Nicole Heinen, a nationally acclaimed soprano known for her emotional depth and luminous tone, brings rare nuance to this masterwork. She is joined by SouthEastern
Young Artists (SEYA), a professional chamber ensemble whose members are come from the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society, Concert Artist Guild, Cavani Quartet,
and include chamber, orchestra and solo . Together, they create a concert experience that is at once intimate and transcendent.
