The Horton House is one of the oldest tabby buildings in Georgia, and the site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. William Horton built this home in 1743 after a Spanish attack destroyed his original home. Horton was one of General James Oglethorpe’s top military aids and was in charge of troops garrisoned at Fort Frederica on nearby St. Simons Island. Through eight interpretive panels, you can discover the site's other occupants including Indigenous Americans, French privateers, and Black Americans.
