3 Places to Shop for Fresh Georgia Pecans
Georgia has lots of homegrown products to be proud of, and pecans are on top of the list. Pecans’ natural sweetness and crispness adds depth of flavor and a nice crunch to popular Georgia sweets, like pecan pie, pecan shortbread, pecan brittle, and my all-time favorite: pralines.
With the holidays approaching, now is the perfect time to take a road trip and pick up some Georgia pecans.
Here are three great south Georgia locations to pick up your pecans.
Ellis Brothers Pecans
This family-owned and -operated pecan grove has been producing pecans since 1944 and offers five varieties of pecans. Stop in to the Ellis Brothers Pecans retail location just off I-75 in Vienna seven days a week, or shop online. Use Georgia-grown pecans in the Ellis Brothers recipes for pecan pie, pralines and fudge.
Pearson Farm
Since 1885 and for five generations, the Pearson family has been growing and selling pecans. Pearson Farm now offers a huge catalog of pecan-featured sweets. Stop in to the farm Monday through Friday during pecan season (September through April) to shop for nutty treats. Stock up on plenty of pecans to use in Pearson Farm's recipes for pecan cinnamon rolls, Georgia pecan turkey salad, pumpkin pecan pie, and more.
Merritt Pecan Company
Merritt Pecan Company offers pecans in their shell, shelled halves and pieces, candied pecans, roasted and salted, as well as many other pecan items. Shop the retail location on Highway 520 halfway between Albany and Columbus for a great variety of farm-fresh pecans as well as jams and jellies, local and regional cookbooks, and much more. Shop online or call for a current catalog of products.
