Father-Daughter Americana Duo The Brookses to Release Debut Album

Father-daughter Americana duo The Brookses will release their debut LP, "Lucky Charm," on April 26, 2019, followed a few days later with a show at Atlanta’s Red Light Café.

The father of the team, Jim Brooks, is a veteran of the Atlanta music scene since the 1980s, having performed on guitar with Kelly Hogan, Michelle Malone and others, as well as founding the swing band Savoy Kings. Daughter Meg’s occasional nights sitting in as vocalist for the Savoy Kings led to a regular gig with her dad as a duo at the Red Light Café. They both wrote the material that is collected on "Lucky Charm," recorded in Decatur with producer Damon Moon (Blair Crimmins, Sydney Eloise & the Palms).

Jim readily acknowledges the "blood harmony" he shares with Meg, on full display throughout "Lucky Charm." "I remember when Meg’s voice changed," he says. "I noticed something different when we sang together. The way our voices harmonized – like the Everly Brothers, the Louvin Brothers, the Carter Family – there was something about our voices working together that was completely different than harmonizing with anyone else."
