John McCutcheon to Play Show Marking Pete Seeger’s 100th Birthday

Wisconsin-bred/Georgia-based folk musician John McCutcheon will perform a concert celebrating the 100th birthday of his biggest inspiration, Pete Seeger, at the Red Clay Music Foundry in Duluth on May 5, 2019.

McCutcheon (pictured with Seeger) titled his 1975 debut album, "How Can I Keep From Singing?," after a song he learned from the late folksinger. That song appears again on McCutcheon’s latest album, "To Everyone in All the World: A Celebration of Pete Seeger," which came out earlier this year on his own Appleseed Records label.

The album, McCutcheon’s 40th, features many guests including the Steel Wheels, Hot Rize, Tim O’Brien and Suzy Bogguss. “It was really easy to convince everybody to sing on a Pete Seeger tribute album,” he says.
