Offspring of Allman Brothers Band Members Form New Band

After a successful year touring as The Devon Allman Project with special guest Duane Betts, the sons of Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts are joining forces to form The Allman Betts Band.

The new group will also Berry Oakley Jr., (son of original Allman Brothers Band bassist Berry Oakley), along with slide guitar virtuoso Johnny Stachela and percussionists R. Scott Bryan and John Lum. Peter Levin (Gregg Allman's Hammond B3 player) and onetime Allman Brothers Band keyboardist Chuck Leavell (longtime touring member of The Rolling Stones) also will appear on the album the group is recording, to be released in spring 2019.

The Allman Betts Band isn’t expected to make its official live debut until March 2019, but chances are you’ll get a good taste of it when The Devon Allman Project plays Macon’s Grand Opera House on New Year’s Eve, with Duane Betts and Berry Jr. both on the bill, as well. Devon and Duane are also playing the night before at the Buckhead Theatre in Atlanta.
