Covington
Referred to as "The Hollywood of the South," Covington has been a gorgeous backdrop for more than 100 films and television shows like "The Vampire Diaries," "In the Heat of the Night," "Dukes of Hazzard" and many more. Have a bite to eat at Mystic Grill, which was inspired by the filming of "The Vampire Diaries," and take guided tours to see famous filming locations and hear stories from behind the scenes. Follow the Walk of Stars around the downtown square to see the names of television and film productions that have used Covington/Newton County for film locations.
Wild Adventures in Valdosta
Wild Adventures in Valdosta was a major filming location for the Woody Harrelson hit "Zombieland." Ride Firecracker and relive one famous scene from this 2009 thriller, and explore the many new features the park has to offer. Take in a concert or cool off at Splash Island, Wild Adventures's very own water park.
Margaritaville at Lanier Islands
Who doesn’t love cooling off during the heat of the summer in a giant wave pool in the North Georgia mountains? The cast of "Blended," starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, found the wave pool at Margaritaville at Lanier Islands the perfect spot for a scene in their family-friendly romantic comedy. Adam Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison, even invested capital to enhance the waves at the wave pool!
Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta
The Georgia Aquarium is no stranger to the big screen. Many films have used the great aquarium as a movie set. From Marvel’s "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" to "The Last Song" starring Miley Cyrus to "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip," the Georgia Aquarium is a must-see for visitors to the Peach State. Aside from filming, tons of celebrities have experienced behind-the-scenes tours, often feeding or swimming with the dolphins.
Swan House at the Atlanta History Center in Atlanta
The Swan House is a must-see for "Hunger Games" fans. The beautiful Buckhead mansion was the backdrop for the 2013 hit "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" and "Mockingjay" Parts 1 and 2.
Berry College in Rome
Berry College in Rome is more than your typical college campus. It has had numerous scenes filmed in various locations. Once you experience the beauty of this pristine campus, you’ll see why the producers of "Remember the Titans" chose it as the backdrop for parts of this hit movie. Be sure and see the historic Old Mill, the English Gothic Ford buildings and the main campus near Victory Lake. While on campus, enjoy the many walking trails and paths, and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife, including the famous Berry College eagles.
Savannah
Savannah has been home to many great films. For the kids who love SpongeBob, they can relive scenes from "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water," which was filmed in various locations in both downtown Savannah and Tybee Island. Savannah is a true tourist destination, so you won’t have trouble finding things to keep you entertained and busy. Be sure to visit Leopold’s Ice Cream for a cool sweet treat you can't find anywhere else.
Madison
"Goosebumps," starring Jack Black, was set in Madison, Delaware, but it was filmed in Madison, Georgia. You can visit the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center where filming took place. Enjoy an ice cream at Scoops, where Jack Black often stopped for a cool treat. Tour downtown and the Madison Welcome Center, which served as the police station for the film.
