3 Reasons to Bring the Kids to The Booth Museum

The Booth Museum is the largest permanent exhibition space for Western art in America, and it sits just north of Atlanta in Cartersville. It's a wonderful museum for adults, but did you know kids are welcome here, too?

Each October, The Booth Museum hosts the West Fest, and it is FANTASTIC for kids of all ages (and kids at heart). You'll see Native American performances and learn the differences between a Southern and an Eastern tribe. You'll also see demonstrations such as pottery making, chuck wagon cooking, blacksmithing and more.

Saturday includes a re-enactment of the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, living history encampments, a Western marketplace and tons of activities for the kids.

2. Sagebrush Ranch

In the basement of The Booth Museum lives a large play area just for kids. We explored for the first time only recently, but both of my kiddos were mesmerized for several hours.

There are 10 hands-on stations that include everything from riding in a stagestagecoachressing in cowboy attire and saddling a horse.

3. Attraction of the Year

If all of this wasn’t enough to convince you to visit, consider this: The Booth Museum was named the Escape to the Southeast Travel Attraction of the Year by the Southeast Tourism Society.
