More than 17 miles of hiking and biking trails are spread across 1,400 acres in Jackson, including wildflower fields, creeks, and forests. The educational, 19th-century-style working farm exhibit includes a blacksmith shop, barn, corncrib, and livestock.

2. High Falls State Park in Jackson

This historic park in Jackson boasts the tallest cascading waterfall south of Atlanta and a lake known as one of Georgia's top white and hybrid bass fishing spots. Campsites and canvas yurts offer overnight accommodations for nature lovers.

3. Hard Labor Creek State Park in Rutledge

4. Indian Springs State Park in Flovilla
This 528-acre park in Flovilla, named for the mineral-rich natural springs on the grounds which Creek Indians used to heal the sick, is a popular wedding destination, thanks to the idyllic Idlewilde Event Center overlooking the sparkling lake.

5. Oconee River Greenway in Milledgeville
