Watch History as it Happens in Athens

Join Historic Athens as it hosts an 11 week, 55-episode interview series designed to document the effect of coronavirus on Athens, Georgia. The interactive series, which will be available live and for free on Facebook each weekday at 1 p.m., will run from April 13 through June 26, 2020.

Historic Athens plans to interview a diverse cross-section of the community, including elected officials, public administrators, community leaders, artists, musicians, clergy, entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, and more. Each guest will join in from their webcam to share their perspective on how this moment in history is affecting them. The program seeks to inform viewers on how to help individuals and local organizations, while also ensuring a recorded record of this historic moment. Once the project is completed, Historic Athens plans to make audio and video archives available to the UGA Hargrett Library and the Athens Regional Library's Heritage Room.
