The Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters Commemorates 200 Years

Location: Savannah

Designed by noted architect William Jay, construction on Savannah’s Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters Museum was completed in 1819 and the mansion’s first family moved in. With one of the last remaining examples of urban slave quarters in the country, this property of the Telfair Museum has rolled out updated programing telling the story of both the white families who owned one of Savannah’s earliest mansions and the enslaved blacks who lived and worked there. telfair.org/visit/owens-thomas
