Three Art-inspired Georgia Playgrounds for Kids to Enjoy
Science confirms it: Art makes you smart! When you can expose your kiddos to amazing collections while getting them outdoors and moving their bodies, you're engaging all their senses and helping them grow physically and mentally. It's the best of all worlds. So, pack up the car and head over to these three super art-inspired playgrounds in Metro Atlanta.
1. High Museum of Art
Bring the kids to the High Museum of Art's second interactive piazza installation, Merry Go Zoo, by artist Jaime Hayon. Four large-scale structures turn this area in Midtown Atlanta into a whimsical playground for kids (and parents) to enjoy. It's on display through Nov. 26, 2017, and it's the perfect place to meet friends for a picnic or gather during the FREE Second Sundays programming.
2. Piedmont Park
Not far from the High Museum, make your way to the beloved Noguchi Playscape at Piedmont Park near the 12th Street gate. It's the only playground ever designed by renowned artist and sculptor Isamu Noguchi. He built it to highlight shapes, colors and textures for growing children. Before you go, pack a basket and enjoy a picnic.
3. Playable Art Park at Abernathy Greenway Linear Park
Six larger-than-life art pieces at the Playable Art Park at Abernathy Greenway Linear Park in Sandy Springs will challenge conventional thinking about playgrounds. Each art piece is made for climbing, jumping, swinging and enjoying specifically by kids. Located on the Abernathy Greenway, you'll find picnic tables and restrooms, so plan to spend an entire afternoon.
