Second Annual Ice Skating Rink Will Return on Friday, November 23 with New Private Igloo Experience

ATLANTA (Wednesday, November 14) – High atop the hustle and bustle of Ponce de Leon Avenue and Atlanta’s Eastside BeltLine trail, the team behind The Roof at Ponce City Market is bringing back the splendor of its rooftop winter wonderland with the second annual “Skate the Sky” ice rink. Beginning on Friday, November 23, through Sunday, January 13, 2019, guests can twist and twirl in a winter oasis, while overlooking the Buckhead and Midtown cityscape from Rooftop Terrace.

As the Atlanta temperatures begin to dip, transport to a winter wonderland with a quick 10-story trip up the historic freight elevator. Before heading to Skyline Park to try your hand at boardwalk games, or Nine Mile Station to enjoy a memorable meal of elevated beer garden favorites, guests will be able embrace the season while skating across the 3,500 square feet of ice rink. Round out the perfect evening with a seasonal cocktail and board games in The Parlour at RFD Social, the newly renovated indoor bar and lounge located in Ponce City Market’s iconic tower.

The rooftop ice rink is one of its kind in Atlanta, offering a view of the skyline while getting away from the rush of the city. The rink will be decked in festive décor, creating a picture worthy afternoon or winter evening. Faux-fur blanks will be available to warm-up under, and high-top tables will surround the rink for friends and family to gather around the ice. After hitting the ice, head over to RFD Social for seasonal sips including hot toddy’s and hot chocolate.

New this year, guests will have the opportunity to rent a private igloo that can hold up to eight guests. Igloos will be full-service and offer different themed decor experiences including “Cuddle Up” and “Glamping” and include bottle service, a menu of bites and access to the rink. Guests can choose from various packages, including a two-hour rental, s’mores station, 50 minutes of skating, skate rental and admission to Skyline Park, and be able to rent the igloo for up to two hours, starting at $125. Two additional igloos will be set up at Nine Mile Station, located on the terrace. The full Nine Mile Station menu will be available to order in these two igloos, making this one of Atlanta’s most unique winter dining experiences and go-to spot to sip cocktails.

“Skate the Sky” will open to the public on Friday, November 23, and run through Sunday, January 13, 2019. Guests can access the ice rink as a walk-in from Skyline Park ($15 for ice skating, plus entry fee of $10 for adults and $8 for ice skating plus $7 for kids 12 and under) or Nine Mile Station (reservations via Tock available here). Igloo reservations can be made in advance via Tock and pricing will range based on preferred package. Hours of operation for the rink will be Sunday from noon to 9 p.m., Monday through Wednesday from 3 to 10 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 3 to 11 p.m., with 21+ only access after 5 p.m. The ice rink will be available to rent for private events during the day.
