Welcome to the newly renovated and refurbished Monroe County History Museum! One of the more notable attractions in Forsyth, this museum is dedicated to depicting the history of Monroe County through displays and special exhibits. Its collections include a print stand once used by the writer of the Uncle Remus stories, Joel Chandler Harris, local artifacts from days gone by, and a cotton gin quite similar to that of Eli Whitney. The museum also has extensive archival and topical files, including genealogical materials organized by families associated with Monroe County. The Museum is open Wednesday - Friday from 9AM-4PM and on the 1st Saturday of each month from 10AM-2PM.
