The Griffin Museum, located on the upper floor of the Welcome Center, showcases an impressive collection of artifacts and memorabilia from Griffin’s history, some dating back to the mid-1800s. Within the museum, there is a small exhibit dedicated to the legendary Doc Holliday, one of Griffin's most famous sons.
Visitors can explore displays of medical, dental, and pharmaceutical supplies and equipment, harking back to the era of early medical colleges. The cotton industry is prominently featured, with turn-of-the-century machinery and furniture crafted from salvaged wood from local mills. The police and fire departments are represented with exhibits of vintage uniforms, logbooks, and accessories. Additionally, the Boy Scouts and other pieces of Griffin’s rich heritage are highlighted.
A visit to the Griffin Museum offers an engaging journey into the city's history and is well worth an afternoon to uncover its hidden treasures.
