Hoboken, Brantley County's county seat from 1920 until 1923, is located about 15 miles east of Waycross. This small community has a distinct century-old tradition of Sacred Harp, including monthly singings and annual convention. Sacred Harp singing in the Okefenokee region of Southeast Georgia dates back to the mid-1800s. The "Hoboken Style: Meaning and Change in Okefenokee Sacred Harp Singing" was selected for the 2009 Southern Spaces series "Documentary Expression and the American South."
Four miles outside of town, Twin Oaks Park (a privately owned campground) hosts two bluegrass conventions annually. Bring your RV or camper and listen to musicians from across the country.
