Celebrate fall in Southeast Georgia with Jesup GA Train Day with the StoryWalk “Hello, Jesup” and ArchFest — happening together on Saturday, October 17 in historic downtown Jesup. Families, railfans, and travelers can enjoy a full day of hands-on activities, vendors, local food, live entertainment, and small-town hospitality.
At the Jesup Train Depot, Train Day highlights Jesup’s rich railroad heritage with model train layouts, historical exhibits, Operation Lifesaver demonstrations, and three dedicated railfan viewing platforms. Kids can ride the trackless train, explore train tables and puzzles, and join special programs like Storytime with Edna Ruth Williamson and Ask Andy the Engineer and Friends, where a real locomotive engineer, conductor and signalman answers questions about trains. Visitors can also watch live trains on Virtual Railfan, one of the world’s largest railfan camera networks.
Just steps away, Arch Fest fills Downtown Jesup with arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, live music, children’s activities, and shopping along Cherry and Macon Streets. The festival showcases local crafters, small businesses, and Jesup’s welcoming community spirit beneath the town’s iconic arch and fountain located at the depot.
As part of the Tourism Board's ongoing tradition of pairing literacy with community events, families can enjoy the StoryWalk “Hello, Jesup” along NW Broad Street. This interactive walk-through story features colorful panels introducing children to Jesup’s landmarks — the courthouse, City Hall, the train depot, Madge’s Place caboose, downtown buildings, parks, and community helpers like Ashley Brannen, Jesup’s beautification worker. Each panel includes a fun activity, encouraging kids to explore, imagine, and connect the story to the real places they see around them. The StoryWalk adds a playful, educational layer to the day and is a favorite stop for families at every downtown event.
Whether you love trains, festivals, history, or exploring Georgia’s small towns, Jesup offers a full day of discovery. Come enjoy Train Day at the depot, and follow the StoryWalk “Hello, Jesup” stroll through Arch Fest downtown Jesup for a memorable Fall adventure filled with learning, laughter, and local charm.
