Named for the family that owned it for over one hundred years, Beall Springs was once considered a very popular summer resort located less than ten miles southeast of Warrenton. The waters there were found to have curative powers to relieve indigestion, kidney, stomach, and skin diseases. A constant flow of water, unaffected by freshets or droughts, the water gave healing to many suffering patients.
In its natural beauty, the scene was picturesque. The hotel occupied a site on the summit of a hill and a terraced walk extended to the spring. At that time, the hotel was filled to capacity and small cottages were owned by families who did light housekeeping. The luxuries of water systems, electric lights, etc., were not deemed necessities back then, as they are now, and the boarders were willing to accept a semi-camp life.
