4 of Georgia's Best Breakfast Places and What to Order
It's the most important meal of the day and one you definitely don't want to miss at these special places throughout Georgia.
Fuel a day of sightseeing with a big breakfast at these restaurants. You can't go wrong with any of these menus, but we also have some suggestions on what to order.
Highland Bakery, Atlanta
The Highland Bakery is known for its delicious sweet potato pancakes, but it started as a coffee cart that traveled around Atlanta. In addition to the pancakes, don't miss the shrimp and grits served with jalapeno focaccia bread, perfect for brunch.
The Rusty Bike Cafe, Clayton
The Rusty Bike Cafe is definitely a local Clayton breakfast place, and there is reason. It's homey with great food. You may have to wait a bit for a table on the weekends, but the omelet and hashbrowns are worth it. And, if you're more sweet than savory, get the chocolate chip pancakes.
The Sawmill Place, Blairsville
The Sawmill Place seeks to use local produce when possible. You can grab lunch at this mountain restaurant, but the best meal is the BIG breakfast. Don’t miss the made-from-scratch biscuits with gravy and bacon. Mmmm, bacon. Order a side of baked apples, too. Go early in the morning or you'll need to wait – but it will be worth it.
The Sandcastle Cafe, St. Simons Island
This is breakfast just like your grandmother used to make — good food and lots of it. The Sandcastle Cafe is located steps from the St. Simons Island pier, and you can sit on the deck and hear the ocean. In addition to the buffet items, get your choice of eggs how you like them and either a waffle, French toast or pancake. If you need something healthier, the breakfast parfait has a generous amount of yogurt, fresh fruit and granola. Either way, wear your stretchy pants to The Sandcastle Cafe.
