If you aren't so good with the clubs, try playing golf with your feet. Foot golf is an interesting take on the game and uses a soccer ball and larger hole instead of a golf ball and clubs. There are several foot golf locations around Georgia, including Sea Palms Resort & Conference Center on St. Simons Island.

Disc Golf

Clubs or soccer balls don’t do it for you? What about Frisbees? Disc golf uses a Frisbee-type disc that you throw into a metal basket. It's a great game for families and a nice way to enjoy the outdoors. There are more than 120 disc golf courses in Georgia, and some of the prettiest are located at Georgia State Parks like Richard B. Russell State Park in Elberton. You'll also want to play at the International Disc Golf Center in Appling and visit the Disc Golf Hall of Fame while you're there.

First-class Tournaments

The Masters, held in Augusta each spring, is the pinnacle of golf tournaments. Did you know the land for the Masters golf course was once a nursery and that is why each hole is named after a tree – Magnolia (5), Redbud (16)? Georgia also has two other notable golf tournaments, the RSM Classic on Sea Island and the PGA TOUR Championship played at the historic East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

Golf with a Side of Wine

Looking for something to do in addition to golf? At Chateau Elan Winery & Resort in historic Braselton, there is no need to spend your entire day on the course (unless you want to). Play one of the resort’s short courses and save some time for a little pampering in the spa. Or, perhaps take a winemaker wannabe class where you can become a winemaker for the day and learn to blend and bottle your own vino.

Georgia Golf Hall of Fame

True aficionados will want to visit the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame at the Murray Golf House on the grounds of the renovated Bobby Jones Golf Course in Atlanta's Buckhead community. Learn about Georgia golf greats and experience the history of the sport in Georgia.
