Sips and Sights
Sip and stay a while at newly opened coffee shops, distilleries and bars perfectly positioned around the city. If coffee is what you crave, stop into fair-trade and veteran owned, Ubora Coffee Roastersor Buona Cyber– the second location of the staple coffee shop which recently opened inside Augusta’s Cyber Security Center. Cheers to expansion at Second City Distilling Co.’s second location situated along Augusta’s Riverwalk. This micro-distillery produces vodka, whiskey, moonshine and bourbon in a hospitable environment that welcomes all to sip, sample and stay awhile.
Sweet treats for those 21-and-over are an Augusta specialty now that Vance’s Bakery Barhas opened on James Brown Boulevard. First of its kind in the area, this mid-century modern bakery and cocktail lounge features local craft beers and spirits, paired to create top-shelf signature cocktails, coffee drinks, and luxe dessert drinks. The menu also includes a wide variety of decadent, alcohol-infused desserts prepared in-house to satisfy the hankering for sweets.
Venture off the path into the magical world that awaits guests at the newly opened Pexcho’s American Dime Museum. Inspired by the mid-1800’s Dime Museums, think the original P.T. Barnum museum of oddities, this is a sight guests and residents will have to see to believe. Pexcho's American Dime Museum will bring Wonderment, Disbelief, Amazement and Laughter to children and adults alike. Here, guests will experience a unique collection of more than 2,000 natural oddities and scientific curiosities from America’s most peculiar past.
Stop into the new popular downtown shop, American Journeyman. This veteran owned craft shop opened in Spring 2019 and includes collected and restored items that American Journeyman built the country on. The store specializes in custom-made products, ranging from sofas to soaps, and all items are made in America.
Light Bites, Huge Flavor
Experience the new flavor that runs throughout Augusta at the new and buzzworthy restaurants such as Laziza, the Mediterranean bakery bar that just opened their second location downtown, or Noble Jones, known by residents as Nojo, which brings to life Charleston and Texas inspired dishes dreamed up by Chef J.D. Wier. Whatever guests choose, taste buds will not only be satisfied, but left craving more.

Thanks to community support for the arts, The Miller Theater recently underwent a seven year, $25 million-dollar renovation, and reopened as the second downtown historic theater, and home to the Augusta Symphony Orchestra. The Miller is a state-of-the-art venue that showcases acts that can be seen in the FOX Theatre in Atlanta, but more importantly are securing shows and performances that are skipping by some of the bigger cities and heading straight to the other "A-Town." A few mentionable shows include LeAnn Rimes, The Brian Setzer Orchestra’s Christmas Rocks! Tour presented by SiriusXM, Kenny G, Cirque Dreams Holidaze and so many more.
In the art gallery space, Westobou Gallerycontinues to present new exhibits that stir the imagination of those that venture inside. The annual and ever-popular festival, Westobou Festival (Oct. 2-6), spotlights the creative underbelly of Augusta for an entire week every October. This year’s festival will feature special events along with various artists and musicians including, Hannah Ehrlich, Beatbox Saxophonist, Melanie Wade Larson and more.
Flights to and From
Those in Washington D.C. (beginning in January 2020) and Dallas, Texas (currently running) interested in visiting Augusta can now hop on a plane and enjoy the luxury of a direct flight to and from the city. The direct flights are now offered daily to and from Augusta Regional Airport, in and out of Ronald Reagan International Airport and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, making it easier for those located there to visit.
