As you drive into Wrightsville, you’re greeted by a bustling downtown area. The sidewalks pave the way for you to explore some of Johnson County’s finest small businesses and restaurants. Don’t miss the 100-year-old Johnson County Courthouse, a proud symbol of the community. It's beautiful courtyard, framed by a canopy of trees, offers a warm welcome. If you visit during the Fourth of July, you'll experience the annual celebration at the courthouse square, featuring road races, street dances, food, games, a parade, and more.

A must-see during your visit to Johnson County is the one and only Herschel Walker Field. Dedicated to University of Georgia football legend, Herschel Walker, this field is home to where he made many great strides to become one of Wrightsville’s claims to fame. If you listen closely, you can almost hear the roars of the crowd on a crisp, fall night underneath the Friday night lights! If you happen to be in town on a fall Friday night, stop by Herschel Walker Field and you might just catch a Johnson County High School football game!

Just a couple of miles south of Highway 15, be sure to visit the iconic Midway Straw Hay Barn Flag. This has become a local landmark and a proud display of patriotism. It’s a great spot for a quick photo that perfectly captures the spirit of rural Georgia!

Is it lunchtime? We’ve got a few places you can try in Wrightsville, like The Pizza Place, Cattle Bay Restaurant, or La Palmas! The Pizza Place on South Marcus Street offers pizza, subs, salads, wraps, and sandwiches. At Cattle Bay Restaurant on Cross Cedar Road, enjoy their famous hamburger steak or shrimp and grits. If Mexican cuisine is more your style, then feast on a bowl of salsa with crispy tortilla chips at La Palmas Mexican Restaurant!

After lunch, explore Wrightsville’s rich history. Visit the Grice Inn, a historic structure built in 1906, now home to the Johnson County Historical Society. Then, head to the W&T Railroad Depot on East College Street. Once a central hub connecting Wrightsville and Tennille, the "Wiggle and Twist" depot has been restored as a Welcome Center and museum. If you visit in late October, make your way to the Wiggle and Twist Fall Festival, featuring a barbecue competition, music, food, and fun for the whole family.
