Athens more than doubles its population on home football weekends with a tailgate scene that can't be beat! The UGA sports action goes on far beyond football season, and best of all, admission to most UGA sports events is free! Plan to see a game or two while you're in town.

The latest UGA sport in Athens takes the ice, not the field. The Classic Center Arena is the new home of the UGA Ice Dogs. Also visit Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall for UGA and Olympic sports memorabilia, interactive displays, and video highlights. On North Campus, relax on Herty Field, site of early Bulldog football games played under Pop Warner in the 1890s. It's a far cry from Sanford Stadium, which seats more than 92,000 fans and is the nation's seventh-largest on-campus college stadium in the U.S.
