1. Atlanta Gladiators
The Atlanta Gladiators are a professional minor league ice hockey team based in Duluth. Founded in 2003, they play at Gas South Arena, drawing fans from across the metro Atlanta area, just 22 miles northeast of the city. The team competes in the South Division of the ECHL’s Eastern Conference and kicks off the season in October. The season runs from October to April.
The Atlanta Gladiators bring more than just hockey to the ice. They bring the fun with lively theme nights like Star Wars or Pucks and Paws, exciting in-game contests, and a family-friendly atmosphere at Sunday matchups. With affordable tickets, a playful mascot, and nonstop action, a Gladiators game is one of metro Atlanta’s most entertaining nights out. With three South Division titles and a 2006 Kelly Cup Finals appearance, the Atlanta Gladiators are ready to build on their past success!

2. Savannah Ghost Pirates
The Savannah Ghost Pirates bring a new wave of hockey excitement to coastal Georgia. Since taking the ice in 2022, the team has made Enmarket Arena one of the liveliest spots in Savannah during hockey season. Competing in the ECHL’s South Division, the Ghost Pirates play from October through April. As one of the league’s newest teams, they’ve quickly earned a reputation for thrilling games and an atmosphere unlike any other.
What makes the Ghost Pirates stand out is their fun and passionate fan base. Supporters often arrive in pirate-themed gear, waving flags, and cheering loudly throughout the night. Their mascot, Davy, is a crowd favorite, keeping fans on their feet and bringing nonstop energy to every game. The team has themed nights such as Star Wars, St. Patrick’s Day, and Country Night, which make the experience even more fun.

3. Macon Mayhem
Since 2015, the Macon Mayhem have brought high energy action to central Georgia, competing in the SPHL and calling the Macon Coliseum home. The team’s season runs from October through April.
The Mayhem are known for their fast-paced, high-energy games and a devoted fan base that helps make every night at the Coliseum feel like a celebration. Fans can enjoy themed nights, community events, and post-game activities that bring the team and city together. The franchise has already earned notable achievements, including the 2017 President’s Cup championship and a record-setting regular season in 2020–21, and continues to grow as a centerpiece of Macon’s sports scene. 4. Athens Rock Lobsters
Brand new in 2024, the Rock Lobsters are based in Athens and compete in the FPHL. They play at Akins Ford Arena, which also opened in 2024 and offers fans modern amenities and a unique game-day experience. The Rock Lobsters’ season runs from October through April, giving fans plenty of chances to cheer them on.
The team’s name, chosen by local fans, pays tribute to “Rock Lobster,” the debut single by the city's own B-52s. Their lively mascot, Clawdius, adds to the fun as college students, families, and community members pack the stands. Weekend games bring high-energy crowds, while weekday matchups offer a more relaxed atmosphere. With 28 games on the schedule, the Rock Lobsters are ready to deliver more big wins and keep building their Athens fan base.

5. Columbus River Dragons
Based in Columbus, the River Dragons are bringing excitement and non-stop action to the FPHL. They play their home games at the Columbus Civic Center and have quickly become a fan favorite since their founding in 2019, making deep playoff runs and earning multiple wins in recent seasons. The team’s season runs from October through April.
One of the team’s most popular traditions is the “Chuck-a-Puck” promotion, where fans toss numbered foam pucks at targets during intermission for a chance to win prizes. In the 2023–24 season, the River Dragons recorded an impressive 45 wins, with standout players leading the way. Fans can also catch Torch and Scorch, the team’s spirited dragon mascots, bringing energy and excitement to every game. Come join the action and experience the thrill of River Dragons hockey!
Hockey returning to Augusta!
Hockey is coming back to Augusta after 12 years! In 2027, an ECHL professional hockey team will make its debut in the city, bringing fast-paced action and excitement to the ice. To make game days even better, a brand-new arena is set to open that year, featuring modern amenities and an upgraded fan experience. Starting in 2027, Augusta will be one of the top destinations for thrilling hockey and unforgettable game nights!
