Athens

Athens is home to the state's first aviator. Ben Epps built airplanes out of his bicycle shop in downtown Athens and later created the Athens Airport in 1917. The Athens-Ben Epps Airport was named in his honor after his final crash in 1937. We are the only airport in Athens, and are located 10-15 minutes away from the downtown Athens area, where you can eat local food and find a good band to listen to during your stay!
