For a full year of the Civil War, the focus of the Union and Confederate armies was Atlanta. Follow their actual footsteps through Trenton, LaFayette, Chickamauga, Ringgold, Dalton, Resaca, Calhoun, Rome, Cartersville, Allatoona, Dallas, New Hope, Pickett's Mill, Kennesaw Mountain, Marietta, Decatur, Atlanta, Jonesboro and elsewhere. This 340-mile historic driving route tells the stories of thousands of soldiers wearing blue or gray, led by Sherman, Johnston, Hood and others, and of the civilians they affected, where decisive Civil War history was made.

The Atlanta Campaign Heritage Trail® is one of the Georgia Civil War Heritage Trails®. Collectively, they are "the official statewide Civil War Historic Driving Trails of Georgia," designated by Georgia's Governor and General Assembly in 2010.
