The Gordon County Parks & Recreation Department was formed in April 2000 to serve the recreation needs of the citizens in the unincorporated area of the county and the cities of Resaca, Ranger, Fairmount, and Plainville. Gordon County's Sonoraville Recreation Complex is a 79-acre park featuring six lighted tennis courts, four lighted baseball fields, two soccer fields, a lighted football field, a skate-park, two playgrounds, picnic pavilions, a community center with a two basketball court gymnasium, fitness center, three community rooms, concessions stand and locker rooms. The Harold "Ooky" Faith Memorial Park is a 10-acre park located on Belwood Road that consists of a 1.5-mile lighted asphalt walking loop trail around a pond, two gazebos and fenced playground.
