Cherry Log

Cherry Log is a quiet North Georgia mountain community with easy access to outdoor activities and local attractions. Hike the Benton MacKaye Trail to Fall Branch Falls, go horseback riding with Cowgirl Up Stables, and visit Expedition: BIGFOOT! The Sasquatch Museum!. No trip is complete without a stop at The Pink Pig, a pit-cooked barbecue institution serving Cherry Log since 1967.

Cherry Log is made for a laid-back, romantic mountain escape. Stay in a private cabin with creek access and mountain views, then venture out to nearby Blue Ridge and Ellijay for wineries, dining, and scenic drives along the Georgia Mountain Parkway.

The first two weekends of October every year, the Cherry Log Fall Festival fills the downtown area with arts and crafts; homemade food; and bluegrass, gospel and country music. Cherry Log also is a great home base for the seasonal festivals, markets, and live music events that fill the calendars of neighboring Blue Ridge and Ellijay throughout the year.

Fall is the standout season, when the surrounding north Georgia mountains blaze with color and fill with crisp mountain air. Spring is equally beautiful with wildflowers and rushing creek water, while summer draws visitors seeking shaded trails and cool mountain air.

Sitting at over 1,600 feet in elevation, Cherry Log runs a few degrees cooler than Atlanta year-round. Summers top out in the mid-to-upper 80s, springs are fresh and mild, and winters bring cold temperatures with occasional ice and frost in the higher elevations.

Cherry Log is located in Gilmer County in North Georgia, just north of Ellijay along U.S. Highway 76, also known as the Georgia Mountain Parkway. 

The nearest major airport is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), located about 95 miles south of Cherry Log.
