Yurt Camping at High Falls State Park

Jackson

Located in historic Butts County just 40 miles south of Atlanta, Jackson is a progressive and diverse city, rich in history and culture.

Historical homes, big-city amenities and small-town charms abound as you drive through the downtown area. Stop for coffee on Jackson Square, take your pick from many different restaurants around town, shop in family owned stores, or just enjoy the scenery of the idyllic downtown square.

Visit the Village at Indian Springs, about 10 minutes' drive from Jackson. The charming community is home to several local shops, a great cafe, gardens, and a Princess Paradise playhouse!

Jackson is also near several beautiful outdoor areas:

Jackson Lake, where you can relax on the beach, fish, and explore its serene coves by boat.

At Indian Springs State Park, picnic, camp or stay in a cabin. There are trails for hiking and biking and waters for boating, fishing and paddleboarding. Be sure to peruse the museum detailing the history of the Creek Indians who lived there, its era as a resort town, and the improvements made by the Civilian Conservation Core during the Depression.

High Falls State Park is another local gem, famous for "the tallest cascading waterfall south of Atlanta," according to Georgia State Parks. Here, you can also camp, picnic, boat, fish, hike, and more.

There's also the Dauset Trails Nature Center, a natural, shady wonderland of hiking and biking trails, ponds, streams, and different ways to spot wildlife.
