Home to the biggest biscuits. Lou Ann’s has been a cherished part of the Dublin community for more than 40 years. Family owned and known far and wide for serving up the best breakfast in town. At the heart of it all are the legendary “cathead” buttermilk biscuits, homemade and hearty enough to win over just about anyone. Whether you’re starting your day with a hot cup of coffee and a biscuit or sitting down for a comforting lunch, Lou Ann’s is here to serve you with a smile.
Known as the home of “Georgia’s Biggest Biscuits,” locals flock here for huge homemade “cathead” biscuits, so called because these rich, flaky buttermilk biscuits are as big as a cat’s head. Until recently, the biscuits were baked to a diameter of at least 4″, but the size was recently bumped up to about 5″ in diameter just to be sure Lou Ann’s biscuits kept their title as the biggest!
Fill your biscuit with all types of savory goodness like country ham, thick cut bacon, fried egg, and more. Whatever you fill your biscuit with, take a tip from the locals and order your biscuit with a side of apple butter or top it with homemade country gravy. One bite and you’ll understand what locals know: this eatery knows biscuits.
Lou Ann’s Country BreakfastThere’s breakfast, and then there’s Lou Ann’s breakfast. A true experience that feels like waking up at Grandma’s house on a slow Sunday morning. The day starts with the comforting aroma of fresh baked biscuits rising from the oven, the sizzle of bacon, and the unmistakable warmth of genuine hospitality. At the heart of the table are Lou Ann’s famous buttermilk “cathead” biscuits. Big, fluffy, and served piping hot. Smother one in creamy sausage gravy, slather it with homemade jam, or sandwich it with a thick slice of country ham for a bite that tastes like tradition.
Craving the full experience? Try the Breakfast Plate: one giant biscuit with your choice of filling, such as crispy bacon, a fried egg, and melty cheddar, served alongside creamy grits or tater tots, and a side of homemade apple butter. It’s the kind of breakfast that doesn’t just fill you up, it wraps you in comfort and sticks with you all day.
Lou Ann’s Country LunchLunch at Lou Ann’s from 10:45 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The Blue Plate Lunch Specials take center stage serving up hearty Southern classics made with care and tradition. Step into the dining room and you’re greeted by the mouthwatering aroma of slow simmered gravies, skillet fried favorites, and fresh from the oven sides. Every plate is a nod to generations of cooking, crafted to bring comfort and satisfaction with every bite.
One local favorite? The country fried steak is tender, hand breaded, and seasoned just right before being fried to golden perfection. It’s then smothered in creamy gravy and served alongside a rotating selection of scratch made sides like collard greens, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, fried okra, and more. The menu changes daily to showcase seasonal vegetables and time honored recipes, but the quality and flavor are always consistent.
In October 2024, Lou Ann’s turned a new page, and Gary and Dionn Lanton became the proud new owners. With deep roots in the community and a passion for hospitality, they’ve breathed new life into this beloved spot while honoring everything that made it great from the start. The dining room has been reopened, welcoming guests into a refreshed space that still feels like home. Lou Ann’s now offers a full lunch menu featuring classics everyone knows and loves. From quick bites to generous plates, every meal is prepared with the same heart, flavor, and family values that made Lou Ann’s a local favorite.
