One of Dodge County's most beautiful historical landmarks, Orphans Cemetery features brick-columned entrances, paved streets, running water and immaculately landscaped grounds. Dating back to 1887, Orphans Cemetery is the legacy of Albert G. Williamson, a successful Dodge County businessman. Upon becoming established in Dodge County, Williamson sent for his orphaned five brothers, and the land he amassed over the years became known as "orphans" by the locals.

Saddened by the death of a neighbor's young son, Mr. Williamson donated a burial plot across the street from the church he had established, known as Orphans Christian Church. In 1909, Mr. Williamson formalized Orphans Cemetery by donating one acre and naming a board of trustees. Ancestors later donated three additional acres of land.

Home to the Williamson Mausoleum, Orphans Cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is conveniently located off Hwy 23 N on Orphan Cemetery Road.
