Engelheim Vineyards

Gary and Jan Engel decided to purchase the land that is now known as Engelheim ("Angel Home" in German) in 2007. After Colonel Engel retired from the Army in 2004 upon return from Kuwait and Iraq, they decided to live their dream of living in the North Georgia mountains and to grow the finest quality grapes. They planted the first vines in 2009 and took the first limited harvest in 2011. They currently offer four varieties of wine. Each variety is 100% Ellijay Estate Grown Wines and each earned a medal at the World's Largest American Wine Competition, the 2015 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. The Sweet Molly earned a Double Gold!

Tasting room is open 7 days a week from 12:30-6 p.m. Tour the vineyard and winery with the owner (Gary Engel). Tour lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour. $10/person. Tours are by appointment only on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, we conduct 1 tour, usually around 3 p.m. Please call ahead on day of tour to check for availability.
