The trails at the Linwood Nature Preserve are ready for hikers, walkers and nature lovers of all ages and skill levels. This is a Public-Private Partnership of Gainesville Parks and Recreation and the Redbud Project.
Nature Trails
Over two miles of trails, ecologically designed for easy walking and environmental protection, wind through an urban oak-hickory forest and prairie ecosystems.
Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary
Over 40 species of birds have been sighted within the forest, meadows, creeks and lake habitats.
Community Forest of the Old-Growth Forest Network
The preserve is one of seven in the United States.
Rain Gardens
Commercial and residential scale plots demonstrate methods of control for storm water and soil erosion.
Native Plant Specimen Garden
The garden promotes education of understory trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants indigenous to the oak-hickory-pine forests of the Gainesville Ridges of Hall County.
