Built sometime between the late 1880s, the Kennerly Cox House was owned by town founder, J.P. McConnell until 1909 when he sold it to nephew “Doc” Kennerly, the town blacksmith and coffin maker. The house passed out to the Kennerly family in 1938, changing ownership several times until Doyle and Flora Cox purchased the property in 1957. Flora Cox lived in the house until moving in 2001. After Ms. Flora moved, the City of Grayson acquired the house and grounds. The Kennerly-Cox House now serves as a special event facility while displaying historical pieces from Grayson’s past.
