This cabin was, in all likelihood, constructed before 1832 by a Cherokee called Charles Dunbean. The cabin later became part of the frontier dwelling occupied by 1866 by Steven Kirby and his family. Dunbean's improvement originally stood on the Old Federal Road and was located on the boundary of land lots 40 & 37, district 4, section 2, of original Cherokee County. It is open one day a week during April through November and on holidays such as July 4th and Labor Day. The specific days and times are located on the Marble Valley Historical Society Web Site (http://www.marblevalley.org). Additional tours for six or more may be scheduled by calling 706-253-1141.
