In 1881, Norwood Methodist Church was organized in the schoolhouse that was located opposite the present-day location. 3,900 square yards of land was given by Flavius H. McGinty on February 14, 1882, to build the church. The church was completed in the same year and was dedicated by Rev. H.H. Parker. Rev. W.T. Hamilton was the very first pastor of the church. Stained glass memorial windows were dedicated to the church on November 5, 1972.
