On December 22, 1787, John Thomas organized Williams Creek Baptist Church in Norwood with only 37 members. In 1937, the church celebrated its 150th anniversary with an all-day event. In 1950, Rev. M.J. Bruce resigned as pastor after 49 years of service to the church due to illness. The church was relocated to its present-day location because the old location would flood often due to heavy rains.
