5 Places to Try Authentic Asian Food on Buford Highway
Georgia may be known for its mouthwatering Southern dishes, but did you know there is a place in Georgia that boasts an amazing variety of delicious and authentic Asian restaurants?
Spanning approximately three miles, Buford Highway is a stretch of highway that connects some of the most diverse communities in Atlanta — and is home to an amazing variety of international cuisine, including Vietnamese, Chinese and Korean. We have selected five of our go-to restaurants along Buford Highway that will transport you to Asia without leaving the U.S.
La Mei Zi
If you are craving some authentic Chinese-Taiwanese dishes, then you definitely cannot miss La Mei Zi. Some of our must-get favorites are braised beef and scallion rolls, and pork belly buns for appetizers, and Taiwanese-style beef noodle soup and spicy sliced lamb as the main course.
Kang Nam
A Japanese-Korean restaurant with a main dining room, sushi bar and adorable private tatami rooms, Kang Nam's intimate and elegant ambience is perfect for families or couples. But, the real highlight is their high-quality and fresh sushi and sashimi. For two people, Kang Nam offers a Daily Lobster Jungsik Special that includes lobster, flounder and spicy squid for those sashimi lovers out there.
Lee's Bakery
Lee’s specialty is the inexpensive, but incredible tasty, pork banh mi sandwiches: a French baguette filled with pickled carrots, cilantro, Vietnamese mayo, jalapeno and grilled pork. You can also try their banh-mi and pho combo if you would like to enjoy the best of both worlds. Their menu also includes tofu options for vegetarians!
China Hot Pot
A reasonably priced all-you-can-eat buffet with a sauce bar. What more can you ask for? China Hot Pot offers both spicy and plain broths for your hot pot, and a fantastic selection of meats and veggies. As if that’s not good enough, servers will go around with a cart that includes various snacks, such as soup dumplings and scallion pancakes, for you to munch on while you cook.
Sokongdong Tofu House
Sokongdong Tofu House is famous for their Korean soft tofu stew, which is the perfect meal on a rainy afternoon or a cold day. Order one of their combo specials that includes a tofu soup of your choice (you can even adjust its spiciness level to your liking) and a plate of lip-smacking Korean marinated short ribs. The perfect combination!
