Benjamin Hawkins Monument was erected in 1931 by U.S. Government commemorating life and service of Colonel Benjamin Hawkins who served throughout the Revolutionary War as a member of General Washington's staff. He was sent to Georgia toassume jurisdiction over all Indian Tribes South of the Ohio River. He established the Creek Indian Agency on the banks of the Flint River in Crawford County where he made his permanent home.
