Founded in 1905 by John Paul and Alice Allgood Cooper, Darlington School has grown to become one of the leading independent day and boarding schools in the Southeast. Open to visitors during daylight hours, the nearly 500-acre campus is nestled around a small lake in the foothills of the Lookout Mountain Range. The campus of the Darlington School remains one of the most beautiful sites in Northwest Georgia, featuring breathtaking scenery and timeless architecture. The nearby town of Rome officially received its name at a meeting of its founding fathers at Home-on-the-Hill, now the on-site residence of Darlington's head of school.
Admission to the historic campus is free, but all visitors must check in at the main gatehouse prior to entry.
