Geek out over these fantasy, sci-fi and superhero movies that have been filmed in Georgia over the last few years. You might be surprised at how easily spaces around the state are transformed into other worlds.

Captain America: Civil War

The third installment of this Marvel series, Captain America must choose sides between an old friend and his Avengers counterparts. The government enlists a Hero Registration Act. Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. reprised their roles. The movie was filmed at the Porsche Experience Center in Hapeville, "The Gulch" downtown near Philips Arena, and at Pinewood Studios in Fayetteville.

X-Men: First Class

This first installment of prequels about the Marvel series, a group of mutants come together when the government asks for their help in stopping a dictator. Filming took place in the United States and England, including Jekyll Island. Stars January Jones and Kevin Bacon are rumored to have stayed at The Cloister on Sea Island while filming.

Ant-Man

Con man Scott Lang teams up with his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, to rob a bank when he's transformed into a strong, but insect-sized man. Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Evangeline Lilly and John Slattery star. Atlanta landmarks like the recently imploded Archives building, the Bank of America building, and Broad Street were used in filming. Fayetteville’s Pinewood Studios was also used.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

In the highly anticipated sequel, the guardians continue to try to discover the truth about Peter Quill's background. Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Zoe Saldana, and the voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper return. Most filming took place at Pinewood Studios in Fayetteville.

Passengers

In this futuristic film, a spaceship is on its 120-year journey to a distant colony planet. As it goes, thousands of people are placed in sleep pods. But two passengers wake up 90 years too early. Is it a malfunction or purposeful? Chris Pratt, Jennifer Lawrence, Laurence Fishburne and Michael Sheen star in the film, which used Pinewood Studios in Fayetteville extensively.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

In a new Spider-Man franchise, this film follows the events of Captain America: Civil War, which was also filmed in Georgia. Peter Parker tries to go back to life as an average high schooler while keeping his superhero alter ego under wraps. Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr. and Marisa Tomei star in the movie, which was filmed at Pinewood Studios in Fayetteville as well as the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, and Grady High School near Piedmont Park.

Avengers: Infinity War

This Avengers installment brought together many fan-favorite superheroes - including Spider-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Avengers - to battle the Mad Titan, Thanos. Filming primarily took place at Pinewood Studios in Fayetteville as well as around the metro Atlanta area, and at Tallulah Gorge.
