Located on the campus of Reinhardt University, this is Georgia's Official Frontier and Southeastern Indian Interpretive Center. It is also a certified National Park Service Trail of Tears interpretive site. The Bennett History Museum is focused on interpreting the history of the region's Southeastern Indians and Appalachian settlers.
In this modern facility, you will see a 15-minute film on the Southeastern Indians. Visit the Hall of Ancients where 12,000 years of Native American life is depicted through dioramas, exhibits, and artifacts. The Buffington Gallery holds the exhibit Resistance & Resilience: The Cherokee Trail of Tears. There is also a gallery of contemporary Native American art. Finally, in the Sellars Gallery of Historic Hand Tools, this one-of-a-kind exhibit features thousands of tools from as early as the 17th century.
Walking trails lead to the Appalachian Settlement located behind the museum facility. Two historic log cabins are open for special events only. Visit the museum gift shop for unique items. Picnic tables are available on the grounds.
