Many consider spring, winter and fall prime time to visit Atlanta, when the weather is milder and there are fewer crowds. While summer can be hot and humid (some call it “Hotlanta,” after all), it’s when most events, festivals and other happenings kick into high gear. For many, even winter can be a good time to visit. Compared to many other parts of the country, winters in Atlanta are relatively mild – and the season brings plenty of festive lights, holiday events, and cozy experiences around the city.

July is the hottest month in Atlanta, and January is the coldest. Snow is rare and the otherwise mild climate makes it easy to explore year-round, thanks in part to the city’s location in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.
