Canton
Canton is a vibrant community alongside the Etowah River conveniently situated between Atlanta and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Travel the city to see how its murals and public art have taken shape in recent years, splashing colorful scenes referencing the town's present and past, including a wildflower mural, which nods to the city's sustainability initiatives, and a sculpture dedicated to the Native American tribes that lived in the area before the settlers arrived in the 1800s.
Locals and visitors love the ease with which they can get on a leafy trail, including Etowah River Park and the Etowah Trail for hikers and the Blankets Creek Trail System for mountain bikers. The river itself is lined with trails for hiking and biking, and is a favorite of kayakers, as well. Lake Allatoona and Lake Canton lure fishers to their peaceful waters.
Downtown Canton is packed with local restaurants, craft breweries and a handful of places to pick up a coffee and sweet treat. Plan a trip around the Canton Farmers Market, the September Canton Multicultural Festival and Taste of Canton, and First Friday concerts Mary through October.
